Los Cabos is known for a lot of things, including its incredible golf courses and its stunning beaches.
In the waters that lap along these beaches are all sorts of amazing creatures. Cabo’s fishing scene is amazing, due in large part to the many fishing tournaments that take place in the region every year. One such tournament is the International Roosterfish Tournament. Depending on how serious of a fisherman or fisherwoman you are, you may or may not be aware of what the roosterfish is.
This aquatic animal, which can be found in the warm waters from Baja California to Peru, is an immensely popular game fish. It is not, however, recommended for eating. The majority of people practice catch and release when they are fishing for this sort of marine creature. The roosterfish gets its name from seven long spines that extend from its dorsal fin. Roosterfish are really quite beautiful, which makes the International Roosterfish Tournament quite popular every year.
This year’s event will take place from June 21-24, 2016 in Los Cabos. It is important to note that the International Roosterfish Tournament is a qualifying event for the Offshore World Championship. This means that the winning team will automatically be granted a berth at the OWC in Quepos, Costa Rica. To learn more about how qualifying works, visit www.offshoreworldchampionship.com .
